While we were deciding on that particular fireplace, a few others came to mind. A lazy "S" shape and a circle were two that struck us. Each design is perfect for housing a firebox. Set a fake log set inside and burn some gel fuel. You have a completely original fireplace design because it’s custom made with your personality in mind. It’s not hard to use your imagination to come up with completely original home improvement designs. It will make your home say more about who you are and your guests will absolutely appreciate that. People love when they see interesting designs that they haven’t seen anywhere else. It always seems to spark new ideas and get people more into their own home improvement projects. Grandma’s fireplace was certainly beautiful and traditional. I enjoyed sitting there watching television while she rocked in her rocking chair and made blankets out of yarn. But, contemporary times often call for contemporary measures. If every fireplace were the same, the world would be a boring place.
The way an electric fireplace insert works is quite simple. It involves placing an electric fireplace appliance into the center of the traditional fireplace. With the electronic variant now in place the ability for the traditional fireplace to emit heat is possible but it is no longer doing so by burning wood. While this is a very innovative method of using a fireplace but some may take a cynical look at the electric fireplace insert and say it is a bizarre concept because you already have a fireplace. Why would someone want to use an electric fireplace insert? There are a number of reasons.
Ventless gas logs are designed to be used indoors and have several safety features that make them safe inside your home. Manufacturers of ventless gas logs have a limit to the amount of BTU’s burned which limits the size of most unvented gas log burners to 30". The size of a firebox that would comfortably hold a 30" gas burner is 42" to 48" which is still a large fireplace. A standing pilot assembly stays lit and heat is tracked with a thermocouple. If the flames go out for any reason, the thermocouple cools and gas stops at the valve. Oxygen depletion sensors are also attached to the gas valve to ensure the flames do not burn up so much oxygen in the house that unsafe conditions are created.
Stone materials vary enormously in colour and composition; whether you opt for limestone, granite, marble, cast stone, slate or even a thin stone veneer each have their own unique look and feel. Of all the stone materials, marble is probably the most expensive and difficult to maintain but if you are after a sumptuous elegant look in your living room, it can be the perfect choice. On the other hand if you don’t want to spend huge amounts of money there is always the cheaper alternative of man-made marble. Limestone can be very captivating if you select a neutral colour that will complement almost any interior design while granite, though not so soft, is also a good choice because it needs very little maintenance.
